BASINGSTOKE IS BEING BURIED IN TIME
Local schoolchildren have helped to put Basingstoke in the history books with the burial of a time capsule at a new housing development.
A group of children from Saxon Wood School joined George Wimpey at Limes Park to bury a collection of items that they feel represent both the school and the town at this moment in time.
Sally Prince, Sales Manager for George Wimpey comments: "As a housing developer, George Wimpey likes to get involved with the local community. We recently donated money to Saxon Wood as part of our Wish Week initiative and thought that the children would also enjoy burying a time capsule at Limes Park to help make their mark in history".
Head Teacher Jennie Shevlin attended the burial with the children and said: "The children thoroughly enjoyed producing and collecting items for the time capsule and were very excited about coming down to the housing development to bury it. Items included in the capsule were a school sweatshirt, a pair of school shoes, a school brochure and a local newspaper, along with lots of pictures drawn by all the children".
"The children also enjoyed exploring the beautiful show homes at Limes Park and even started a game of hide and seek. It was quite difficult to tear them away."
